We're heading back to school in the New Year!
After a thrilling return to our screens in January 2023, Waterloo Road became the BBC's second biggest drama title with 16-24 year olds of the year so far, just behind Happy Valley, and now it's returning for a 13th season!
Season 12 was full of surprises, including Kim Campbell and Andrew Treneman's awkward reunion, a tough time for Nicky Walter and a tragic loss of one of the pupils, season 13 will no doubt be full of even more drama.
The upcoming series will welcome five new students, who the BBC has teased as a group of "long-term school refusers".
The new series will continue to explore real-life topics affecting teens, families and school staff today, with all the Waterloo Road warmth, sharp writing and wit we all know and love.
Seasons 11 and 12 of the revival are all available to watch on BBC One and BBC iPlayer, but with a teaser trailer for season 13 still on people's minds, the real question is: when can we expect more?

Waterloo Road season 13 release date: when does it air?
Yes! Waterloo road will return to screens on Tuesday 2nd January 2024 on BBC One at 8pm.
New episodes will be airing weekly in the same slot, and much like the previous two seasons, the eight new episodes will be available as a full box set on BBC iPlayer from 6am.
Who will star in Waterloo Road season 13?
The revival series has welcomed back some familiar faces like Angela Griffin as new headteacher Kim Campbell, with season 12 also welcoming back Jamie Glover as Andrew Treneman after his departure from the drama back in 2009.

It should be noted Adam Abbou will not be returning to the series following the brutal death of his troubled character Danny Lewis in the fiery finale of the twelfth season.
Meanwhile, it is unknown if troubled teen Myles Massey (Osian Morgan) will feature at all in the show after he started the fire that killed Danny following an emotional breakdown in the finale. If Myles does return, it will likely be to explain whether justice is served for what he did.
Finally, there are five new students set to walk the halls of Waterloo Road. The new students are as follows:

Is there a trailer for Waterloo Road season 13?
The trailer for "next term" at the conclusion of the season 12 finale shows the school still coming to terms with the loss of Danny Lewis as Kim Campbell takes full responsibility for the tragedy of his death.
Meanwhile, Preston Walters looks set to leave the Sixth Form as the impact of his bulimia nervosa damages his school life, including in sports.
Finally, the school looks set to join an academy trust with a CEO in the form of Andrew Treneman and, while he promises to be "hands off", we see Andrew and Kim set to reignite their romance.
Will the pair work out this time?
